Optimistic and pessimistic views?

 

listening to the recordings it seems to me that Will Hutton was taking a relatively optimistic view of the future, re the success of the knowledge economy, but with a major sting in the tail about the environment

 

wheras Steve Ackroyd was taking more pessimisitc one, with senior managers and leaders becoming more detached from middle and junior ones.  The former very much looking after themseves and maximising their pay, share options and bonuses, while the latter work harder in terms of social labour to keep things going, and as a consequence participate less in civil society.

 

what does anyone think?
