I used the words "total quality" as this was mentioned by John Burgoyne. Anything connected with quality is enough to make a connection. I have heard that Deming avoided the "total quality" term.
My impression is that Deming ideas have not really been tried yet in US / UK. With Juran he explained a lot in Japan but I think they took it somewhere else. The involvement of senior managers was significant.
